General Questions

How can I contact the practice?

Our office phone number is (229) 891 - 2022. You may also contact us online for many purposes via MDhub.

How can I get my lab results?

You can call MD Messages @ 1-800-283-1978 any time. When prompted, enter a doctor ID code of 10116. Your patient code is your social security number. Your results will be available in this system for 15 days.

What can I do for nausea in pregnancy?

  • Take Vitamin B6, 10 to 25 mg, 3 to 4 times daily

  • Eat 6 small meals a day

  • Decrease fiber and fat while increasing carbohydrates

  • Prior to rising in the morning eat saltines, hard candies, or other dry carbohydrate foods

  • Eat promptly when hunger is first felt

  • Avoid fats and fatty foods until vomiting ceases

  • Avoid highly seasoned foods

  • Avoid any specific food causing nausea and/or vomiting

  • Call the office for a suggested meal plan

  • If symptoms persist call the office at (229) 891-2022

What can I do for heart burn in pregnancy?

  • Eat smaller meals

  • Avoid eating or drinking 2-3 hours before bed.

  • Elevate head of bed

  • Avoid spicy foods, coffee, chocolate, citrus fruits, tomatoes, vinegar, and fatty foods

  • Zantac 75 or Pepcid AC over the counter may be taken as directed

  • If no relief or if condition worsens call the office (229) 891-2022

What can I do for constipation during pregnancy?

  • Increase fluids, increase fiber, use bulk agents with phylum such as Metamucil

  • Take stool softener daily such as co lace

  • Increase exercise

  • If problem persists call the office at (229) 891-2022

I am in my second trimester of pregnancy and have sharp shooting and pulling pains in abdomen. What could this be?

As the uterus grows, the round ligaments (bands of tissue that support the uterus on both sides) are pulled and stretched. This stretching may feel like either a dull ache or a sharp pain on one side of your belly. The pains are most common between 18 and 24 weeks of pregnancy.

To prevent or relieve these pains:

  • Avoid quick changes of position

  • Don't turn sharply at the waist

  • When you do feel a pain, bend toward it to help relieve it

  • Rest or change positions

  • If abdominal pain doesn't go away or gets worse, call the office at (229) 891-2022

What can I do for breast engorgement?

  • Massage breasts toward nipple and manually express milk or use breast pump

  • Nurse more often until fullness or discomfort is gone

  • Use both breasts at each feeding

  • Apply warm water compress to breast

  • Take a warm shower

  • Wear supportive bra

What do I do if I miss a birth control pill?

If you miss a birth control pill take it as soon as you remember. Take the next pill at your regular time. This means you may take 2 pills in 1 day.

If you miss 2 pills take 2 pills on the day you remember and 2 pills the next day. You may become pregnant if you have intercourse in the 7 days after you miss the pills. You must use another method of birth control for those seven days.

How can I prevent a urinary tract infection?

  • Drink lots of fluids, especially cranberry juice

  • Avoid caffeine and alcohol

  • Urinate before and after intercourse

  • Wipe the perinea area from front to back

  • Wear cotton underwear

  • Avoid frequent bubble baths

What can I do for vaginal swelling, itching, or irritation?

  • Avoid scented bubble baths

  • Wear loose fitting undergarments and clothing

  • Wear underwear with cotton-lined crotch

  • Avoid scented feminine hygiene products, tampons, sanitary pads and toilet tissue

  • Apply clotimazole cream to area and follow directions on label

  • Apply cool compress to area

  • If symptoms persist or worsen call the office at (229) 891-2022 for an appointment

What can I do for menstrual cramps?

  • Take usual pain medication

  • May increase Ibuprofen to 600 mg every 6 hours (if no allergies)

  • Apply heating pad to abdomen 20 to 30 minutes for discomfort

  • Increase exercise to help reduce cramping

  • If no improvement or symptoms worsen call the office at (229) 891-2022

What can I do for a headache?

  • Apply cool compresses or ice pack to forehead every 2 hours

  • Rest in a quiet, darkened room

  • Take usual pain medication and follow instructions on label

  • Call the office if:

    • Headache persists for more than 24 hours

    • Pain worsens

    • Fever occurs

    • Thick green or yellow nasal drainage
